When purpose-driven people unite, extraordinary things happen.
At The Energy Charter, June has been a powerful reminder that we’re not just transitioning energy systems — we’re building connections, trust and shared responsibility across the country. From welcoming new regional partners to expanding our community resilience resources, every step strengthens our commitment to ensuring people are at the heart of the energy transition.
Growing Our Regional Network
We’re thrilled to welcome Orana Regional Development Australia as our newest Supporter. The Orana region in central and western NSW is poised to play a vital role in Australia’s renewable energy landscape, with significant solar, wind and transmission development underway in Australia’s first declared Renewable Energy Zone (REZ).
Having Orana Regional Development Australia join our collaboration strengthens connections between communities and energy companies operating in the region. At The Energy Charter, we know we’re #BetterTogether when we bring regional voices to the table, creating meaningful opportunities for dialogue that puts humans at the heart of the energy transition.
Breaking Down Language Barriers
Energy resilience shouldn’t depend on what language you speak at home. That’s why we’re excited to announce that our Power Outage Plans are now available in Arabic, Cantonese, Mandarin, Punjabi and Vietnamese, alongside accessible and First Nations formats.
Both our general Power Outage Plan and specialised Life Support Power Outage Plan use our community-developed “CHECK. PLAN. DO.” framework to help all Australians prepare for unexpected outages. As extreme weather events become more frequent, being prepared isn’t just smart—it’s essential.
The Power of Purpose-Driven Collaboration
Sometimes the most meaningful measure of collaboration isn’t found in policy documents or training sessions—it’s found in acts of service. This year’s Energy Charter Blood Drive delivered extraordinary results: 1,258 donations from our Signatories, which translates to 3,774 lives saved.
This remarkable achievement reflects what happens when purpose-driven people unite around shared values of service and community care.
Looking Ahead: Learning from Australia’s First REZ
Mark your calendars for our 5th National Landholder + Community Engagement Training coming to Dubbo in October. This training will focus on “Collaboration in Action,” exploring how true collaboration and collective action can unlock incredible opportunities for landholders, communities, and industry alike.
Participants will learn from Australia’s first declared Renewable Energy Zone, discovering how collaboration between the energy sector and communities can support thriving regional areas during the energy transition.
Deepening Our Understanding
Our Communities of Practice continue to tackle the complex challenges of inclusive energy transition:
- First Nations Better Practice Engagement will explore managing “colonial load” – the invisible additional burden often placed on First Nations employees in the workplace
- Social Licence Community of Practice will feature CSIRO experts demonstrating how to quantify social licence through innovative measurement tools
Building Foundations for the Future
The foundations we’re laying through collaboration, community resilience and open conversations are shaping a future energy system that’s fairer, faster and more inclusive. From regional development partnerships to multilingual resources, from life-saving blood drives to cutting-edge training programs—each initiative strengthens the human connections that make the energy transition successful.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we’re proving that when we centre people in our work, extraordinary outcomes follow.
We are #BetterTogether.
